Todays art journal page share is one where I wanted to explore themes of ethnic primitive art. It has a colourful background with earthy tones in the foreground. I took my inspiration from pictures of prehistoric cave art and hand painting as seen in the caves of France, Spain, Africa and other countries. My page (I hope) evokes a feeling of a one world united and of a common ancestry.

I wanted to play with my acrylic paints and experiment with creating a more painterly type of page project.
I decided on something quite easy as I’m not the best when it comes to drawing, so I chose to create a painting of a couple of vases with a few rose heads. I kept the colour palette simple with only 3 colours, 4 if you include the white gesso.
All in all it turned out better than I thought it would and I’m actually quite happy with it, even though it’s very simple without many layers or much texture.
As an experiment I’m more than happy with the result! If you’d like to watch the full start to finish process then simply click the YouTube link below.
Today I’m playing along with Journal52.com once again. This time I’m working with the prompts for WK#3 which is the word “Strange”.
