For my 2nd IndigoBlu International Design Team project for January I’m using the new Collectors Edition No9 Bumblebee Stamp. Click the stamp image below for more information.
I’ve teamed up a honeycomb stencil from my stash with two IndigoBlu acrylic paints “Lemon Meringue” & “Apricot Blush” to create the background by adding the paint using a Tim Holtz ink blending foam for each colour. Lemon first followed by the Apricot around the outside border to create a feeling of depth.
I then stamped the Bumblebee onto stamping card with Jet Black Archival Ink from ranger, coloured it in using Mustard Seed & Wild Honey Distress Markers. One coloured I cut out the Bumblebee missing off the legs and antenna. I then stamped the same image again onto my honeycomb background, then glued the cut out Bumblebee over the top.
I then stamped one of the smaller bumblebees around the focal image.
I also decorated the inside of the card by using the same technique, but just stencilling the bottom right hand corner. The sentiment is taken from the “Mini Mike” stamp set designed by me but produced by IndigoBlu.
The panels were then matted and layered using black and yellow card stock cut at 1/8 inch (4mm) increments.
A video of the creation of this project is available on my YouTube channel which you can watch by clicking the image below.
