This is part one of a two part experimental art journal page video where I play with a new (to me) technique of masking and mark making with metallic paint. Part two (coming in a few days) shows how I revisit the same page and add to it – hopefully for the better. Click below to watch part one.
This gel plate resist image transfer techniques experiment was inspired by the videos I have recently watched by Shannon Green & Shel C who did their own extensive experiments with preprinted glossy magazine pages.

Today, I’m experimenting with the gel plate resist image transfer technique, but instead of using preprinted glossy magazine images, I’m printing my own high contrast images at home on my laser printer to see it they also transfer like the pre-printed glossy ones! Today I’ve been making use of my current resources, my “Colourcraft Brusho” pigment powders, that I’ve had sitting in my cupboard for a while to make a new set of colour resources to use in my art journals and mixed media projects. The beauty is – they don’t cost a lot of money!! Click below to watch as I create a new range of liquid colour spritzers from stuff I already own.
