Art Journal Page – Create Your Own Sunshine

It’s not often these days that I can sit and create an art journal page without turning on the video camera, but with this page that’s exactly what I did. My good friend Gina Ahrens asked me whether I would create a page as a guest DT member for an up coming blog post using some of her designs. Of course I said yes!

This page, in my 8×8 journal, was created using one of Gina’s beautiful doodle women digital downloads “Doodle Girl #1”, one of her new stencil designs called “Seeds” plus one of her red rubber stamp sets. I believe it’s stamp set #11.

You can find all of Gina’s Stamps, Digi Downloads, stencil designs and a lot more in her Etsy store [HERE].

For the paint colours I used up some of the last few drops of my Dylusions paints and Jet Black Archival ink for the stamping. I printed the Doodle Girl digi on my laser printer then cut her out leaving a small border all the way around. I then created the background by layering the Dylusions paints; stamping and stencilling to create the textured background. Once dry, I stuck the digi download and the printed sentiment onto the page with matte gel medium.

Once they were dry, I added colour to the digi girl and border stamping using my Copic markers.

Just having a play without any pressure to record what I was doing was very relaxing and I was able to drift away on an ocean of sunshine of my own making!

Cupid Challenge with Gina Ahrens

Over the Christmas and Holiday period I reached out to my friend Gina Ahrens in the US and asked her if she’d like to collaborate on a little Valentine’s Day themed project. I’m happy to say she accepted and so today we’re revealing our Cupid Challenge. A few weeks ago I  sent Gina a little video footage and an envelope of ephemera so that she could create a Valentine themed project and she did the same for me. My art journal page above was created almost exclusively with the resources that Gina sent me, apart from paints and such.

To watch the video and resources that Gina sent me and to watch the whole process of creation of the art journal page, simply click the image below.

If you’d like to visit Gina’s Channel and watch what she did with the package that I sent to her click her image below! Enjoy!
